Gina Athanasiou, Sales Representative at RE/MAX Hallmark Realty Ltd., Brokerage

How long have you been an agent?

I have over 20 experience working in the Real Estate industry. I’ve held a variety of positions that include the front office, the back office and sales so I understand very well how this business works. I’ve been a licensed agent for 10 of those years and I’ve been able to successfully leverage those experiences to advocate for both my buyers and my sellers.

How would you describe yourself – your personality, your style, your approach to your work.

I consider myself a sincere and caring agent and I’m empathetic to the needs and requirements of my clients. As a result, my approach to real estate marketing strategies is always in consultation with my clients while considering market conditions and winning approaches. Every client is unique. I understand that everyone’s time is valuable which is why it is critically important for me to understand my client needs. As a result, many of my buyers are surprised to hear that the average number of homes I show is a handful before a purchase is made. My working style is very relaxed and it’s critical for me that my clients also have that same comfort level throughout the entire process. Once we’ve engaged in a working relationship, you’ll come to appreciate why past clients appreciate my tenacity.

What do you love about this business? Why do you do what you do?

One of the things I love most about this business is that not one sale is the same, no buyer or seller is the same and every day brings a different opportunity and experience. The other great thing about this business is that I’ve been fortunate to meet so many wonderful people which is why it gives me such great satisfaction. There’s no greater feeling than when I’ve found my buyers the right home and when I’ve exceeded my sellers’ expectations.

What neighbourhoods do you work in most often, and what do you like about those areas?

The areas in which I bring my expertise are predominantly Riverdale, Riverside, Upper Beach, Little India and East York. I know these areas very well as I have also lived and worked in several of them. I think it’s critically important to understand the neighbourhoods I’ve lived and worked in since it’s made me an effective advocate for both my buyers and sellers.

What makes you different from your competition – what are your special skills, passions, talents? Why should clients choose you?

My approach to a sale or purchase of home is rooted in my desire to satisfy my clients’ needs. At the heart of this is my personal belief that I cannot sacrifice my integrity and jeopardize my clients’ hard earned money for a sale. It’s very easy for me to say these things but what better validation than my clients’ testimonials. Once of my recent clients described me this way, “… dedicated, passionate and thoughtful in her approach to clients and humanity in general”.

Any special recognitions, awards etc. that you have won.

To further validate my belief in my approach to how I care for my business and clients, I was awarded the Re/Max 100% Club Aware in 2014. I am proud to have been awarded the Re/Max Platinum Club Award for 2015 and 2016 which puts me in the top 5% of all Realtors in North America. It’s a privilege to be in the company of some of the country’s top realtors.

Anything else you would like potential clients to know about you.

Although my academic training in Biology and Engineering prepared me for life, I realized that my one true passion has always been real estate. I aspired to never be “THAT” agent with all of its negative connotations. Early on I worried about the “sales” stigma but realized I didn’t have to be like everyone else which is why I believe I’ve stood out. As I’ve been licensed for over 10 years now and have raised 3 children in that time, I still love what I do and wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
